TIPS AND TIPS

As well as in other countries in Hungary tips are appreciated everywhere, but you don't have to do it if you don't feel like doing it.

The usual amount of tips in any kind of food-outlet is 10%. Just make sure that the service charge or gratuity is included in your bill or not, because every place is different.

In a restaurant if you are not fully satisfied with the service, do not leave tips. If you are very satisfied, leave more than 10%.

Other tips:

- Avoid private cabs and taxis, they are easily recognisable:  they do not carry a telephone number written on the side, nor a company name, only a TAXI label on the top. Private taxis have a very bad reputation in Budapest, unfortunatelly.

Hungária Koncert Ltd. suggests you to take City Taxi (211 11 11) - we have an exclusive contract with them for many years and we can assure that they are reliable, punctual and precise.

- Never change money on the street, if somebody walks up to you in the street offering you money change, dont ever accept it. If you need to change money walk into a bank, a money-changing booth or a hotel.
